How to Cancel Your Tru Fit Membership

Tru Fit only accepts cancellation in writing — and its billing has a rough track record. Do it right the first time, with a ready-to-send letter.

MethodTru Fit only accepts written cancellation — either in person at your home club or by certified mail to Tru Fit Corporate in San Antonio, TX. Verbal, app-only or "just stop paying" won't count (that goes to collections). Billing runs through ABC Fitness, so keep every receipt and confirmation.
Notice & feesMonth-to-month members can cancel after the first 30 days with 30 days' notice and no penalty. A fixed-term agreement carries an early-cancellation fee — the amount isn't published and varies by contract, so check your signed agreement. There's also a recurring annual fee (sometimes labelled a "Club Enhancement Fee") that keeps billing even during a freeze.
Free exitYou can cancel if you move more than 8 miles from your home and more than 30 miles from any Tru Fit club (both), with proof of your new address. Death or total disability allows cancellation with a partial refund and physician certification. A temporary freeze (up to ~3 months/year) is also available for medical, military or temporary-relocation reasons.

Step by step

How to cancel your Tru Fit membership

1

Put it in writing

Tru Fit's contract requires written notice — in person at the club or by certified mail. Verbal, app-only or "just stop paying" won't count.

2

Send certified mail to corporate

Mail your signed letter to Tru Fit Corporate, 8610 Broadway, Suite 310, San Antonio, TX 78217 with return receipt. Generate the letter above.

3

Give 30 days' notice

Any payment scheduled within the 30-day window still processes — so expect one more charge, sometimes two.

4

Cancel personal training separately

A personal-training agreement is a separate contract. Cancelling your gym membership does not end it — address both.

5

Keep proof & watch your statements

Save the certified-mail receipt and any confirmation. If billing continues past your effective date, dispute it with your bank.

Before you cancel: keep every scrap of proof

Tru Fit Athletic Clubs currently holds a BBB rating of "F", with a formal "Pattern of Complaints" alert and 150+ complaints — many describing cancellations that weren't logged and billing that continued for months (billing runs through ABC Fitness Solutions). Translation: cancel in writing by certified mail, keep the receipt and any confirmation, and dispute wrongful charges with your bank promptly.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you cancel a Tru Fit membership online?

Not officially — Tru Fit's contract requires written notice in person at the club or by certified mail to corporate. The billing vendor (ABC Fitness) offers an online portal at myiclubonline.com and email at memberservices@abcfitness.com, but the contract's binding route is certified mail, so use that as your primary method and keep proof.

Will I still be charged after cancelling?

Payments scheduled within the 30-day notice period still process, so expect at least one more charge. Beyond that, keep your certified-mail receipt and dispute any charge after your effective cancellation date with your bank — this is the most common Tru Fit complaint.

Do I have to pay a fee to cancel?

Month-to-month members don't — just the 30-day notice. On a fixed-term contract there's an early-cancellation fee (amount varies by agreement), unless you qualify for the relocation or medical exemption.
