How to Cancel Your Retro Fitness Membership

Every Retro Fitness is independently owned, so the fine print varies — but written notice always works. Here's how, plus a ready-to-send letter.

MethodEvery Retro Fitness is independently owned, so cancellation goes to your specific home club. Send a signed, dated letter by certified mail to that club, or hand it to the club manager — keep the receipt, and get written confirmation.
Notice & feesNotice is typically 7 days (3 in New York), and dues due within that window still get charged. There's also an annual fee of roughly $49–69, billed about 45 days after joining and then yearly — cancel well before that date, because cancelling right before it may not avoid it.
Free exit"Flex" and "Ultimate" plans are month-to-month. A "Core" plan is a 12-month commitment, so the remaining payments are generally owed. You can cancel free within 3 business days of signing, or with a documented move or medical reason.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you cancel a Retro Fitness membership online?

Not reliably. There's no universal online cancel portal, and while some clubs list phone/email as accepted, others refuse them and require in-person or mail. Certified mail to your home club is the safe route.

Will I still be charged after cancelling?

It's the #1 complaint (150+ BBB cases). Without a paper trail, clubs may keep billing. Always use certified mail with return receipt, keep it, and dispute any wrongful charge with your bank.

Do I have to pay a fee?

Month-to-month (Flex/Ultimate) members just serve the notice period. Core (12-month) members generally owe the remaining term unless a move, medical reason, or the 3-day right-to-cancel applies.
