Equinox has a 12-month commitment and a notice period — but there are several accepted ways to cancel. Here's how, plus a ready-to-send letter.
Enter your details below to receive your personalised cancellation letter by email.
Your Membership Agreement sets the exact notice period (often 30–45 days) — it's the controlling document.
In club with a manager, email Cancellations@Equinox.com, your online account, or mail per your agreement.
Include your name, member ID, home club and effective date. Generate the wording above.
Save the email/read receipt or in-club confirmation — disputes over "was it processed?" are common.
You're billed through the notice period. Check 2–3 cycles and dispute any charge after that.
In May 2025, the New York Attorney General secured a $600,000 settlement with Equinox for making cancellation "complex, difficult and time-consuming," and required clearer, more accessible cancellation. Translation: keep proof of every request, and dispute wrongful charges with your bank.
Yes. Equinox accepts cancellation via your online account, by email to Cancellations@Equinox.com, in club with a manager, or by mail per your agreement. After the 2025 NY Attorney General settlement, Equinox committed to a genuinely functional online cancellation.
Generally only via an exemption — most commonly moving 25+ miles from your club (with proof), or a qualifying medical situation. Otherwise you cancel with notice after the initial 12 months.
You're billed through the notice period, and members report charges continuing afterward. Keep your confirmation and dispute any post-cancellation charge with your bank.
