How to Cancel Your Anytime Fitness Membership

Every Anytime Fitness is independently owned, so the fine print varies — but the method that actually works is almost always the same. Here's how, plus a ready-to-send letter.

MethodEvery Anytime Fitness is independently owned, so you cancel at your home club — the club you originally joined. Give written notice in person or by certified mail; the billing vendor (ABC Fitness) can't process cancellations for you.
Notice & feesMost clubs need about 30 days' written notice and will bill one more cycle after you submit it. Many also charge an annual fee of roughly $49–59 — cancel ahead of that renewal date to avoid it.
Free exitMonth-to-month members just give notice. A fixed term (6, 12 or 18 months) may carry an early-termination fee (~$75–200), but it's waived if you're moving, have a medical reason (doctor's note), or are on military orders (protected by the SCRA).

FAQ

Common questions

Can you cancel an Anytime Fitness membership online?

There's no universal online cancel button. Most clubs require written notice delivered to your home club (in person or certified mail). Some accept a phone call to start the process — but always follow up in writing.

Will I still be charged after cancelling?

It's the most common complaint. Protect yourself: send by certified mail with return receipt, request written confirmation of the cancellation date, and watch your statement for 1–2 cycles.

Do I have to pay a fee?

Month-to-month members usually just serve the notice period. Fixed-term members may owe an early-termination fee — unless moving, medical, or military exemptions apply.

Can I freeze instead of cancel?

Yes. Most clubs offer a temporary freeze/hold for travel or injury, which is cheaper than paying an early-termination fee if you plan to return.
